            your data, we do not store your conversations, and we do not track you.
        

1. Introduction

SparkAI ("we", "our", or "the extension") is a browser extension that helps users compose WhatsApp messages using AI-powered suggestions. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

2. Data We Collect

SparkAI collects the following data only when you click the SparkAI button:

Recent Chat Messages: The last 10 messages in your active WhatsApp conversation are temporarily read to provide context for generating a reply suggestion.
User Preferences: Your "Tone of Voice" setting and "Anonymize Chat" preference are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API.
Anonymous User ID: A randomly generated UUID is created and stored locally to enforce fair usage limits. This ID cannot identify you personally.

3. How We Use Your Data

To Generate AI Replies: Chat context is sent to our secure backend API, which forwards it to OpenAI's API to generate a suggested reply.
To Personalize Responses: Your Tone of Voice preference is included in the AI prompt to match your communication style.
To Enforce Usage Limits: The anonymous User ID is used to prevent abuse of free AI credits.

4. Data Sharing

We share data with the following third party:

OpenAI: Chat context is sent to OpenAI's API for processing. OpenAI's API data is subject to their API Data Usage Policy, which states that API data is not used to train their models.

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any other third parties.

5. Data Retention

Chat Messages: Not stored. Messages are processed in memory and discarded immediately after the AI response is generated.
User Preferences: Stored locally in your browser until you uninstall the extension or clear browser data.
Server Logs: Our backend may retain minimal request logs (IP address, timestamp) for up to 30 days for security and debugging purposes. These logs do not contain chat content.

6. Anonymization

SparkAI includes an optional "Anonymize Chat" feature. When enabled, participant names in your chat are replaced with generic identifiers (e.g., "Speaker 1", "Speaker 2") before being sent to the AI, adding an extra layer of privacy.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access: View your stored preferences via the extension's Options page.
Delete: Remove all locally stored data by uninstalling the extension or clearing Chrome's storage for the extension.
Opt-out: Simply do not click the SparkAI button if you do not wish to send chat data.

8. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption for all data transmission. Your OpenAI API key (if you choose to use your own) is stored locally and never sent to our servers.

9. Children's Privacy

SparkAI is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
